As a Herbalist, Naturopath and Iridologist, I am dedicated to helping my clients reach a state of vibrant health – our truly natural state! Always having been a ‘science bod’, I gained a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from Imperial College London and spent a decade in healthcare communications before deciding on a complete career change. I then spent a further 5 years of study in order to qualify in Herbal Medicine, Naturopathy and Iridology from London’s College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in 2014. I am a Council Member and General Secretary of my professional association, the Association of Master Herbalists (AMH, www.associationofmasterherbalists.co.uk), and was proud to represent the AMH on a recent UK government Working Group looking at regulation of herbs and herbalists.
Herbal medicine uses the healing power of plants to gently restore a balanced state of health. In herbal medicine, it’s the person who is treated, not their health condition – the herbalist sees patterns instead of dis-eases, and herbal medicine has the potential to help anyone and everyone. Each plant has its own distinct ‘personality’, and when correctly chosen, an individual herb used at a low dose – a ‘specific’ – can create healing miracles! And when using mixtures, the herbalist can match a herbal prescription precisely to the needs of the individual.
Iridology is the study of the iris of the eye to gain clues about an individual’s health strengths and weaknesses. Iridology can provide the keys to living a healthy life within the limits of one’s constitution, and can guide herbal and naturopathic treatment. While not a diagnostic technique in itself, Iridology provides insight into why disorders have developed and how to head off future problems.
Naturopathy Vis medicatrix naturae – the healing power of Nature – describes naturopathy in a nutshell. Radiant health is the inherent state of the human body, and Naturopaths employ natural methods to gently re-establish balance out of dis-ease. In their daily practice, Naturopaths draw on a wide range of techniques, from advice on diet, fasting, hydration and exercise to water therapy (hydrotherapy), homoeopathy, massage and more.
